I'm Jessica, a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant based in my home town of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Everyday I am inspired by the power of food and mindset, with it's ability to improve happiness and health, at any stage of life.
My goal is to educate individuals to take an active role in their health, understand the importance of preventative nutrition and learn to eat for their individual body. I love the challenge of connecting the dots, in effort to find the root cause of your symptoms. I design and create an easy to follow individualized health plan that includes simple meals, lifestyle tweaks and natural supplements to fill in the gaps.
Eating well and living a healthy lifestyle doesn't need to be difficult or confusing. I will work with you closely and make each step realistic and clear.
What is a Holistic Nutritional Consultant?
In a nutshell, Holistic Nutrition is the use of everyday nutrition and mindset to improve one's health and happiness. I teach a whole-food, scientific based approach to nutrition and educate people on how to improve the functioning of their body systems. The body works as a whole, therefore, healing one part can very well bring other areas back into balance.
I evaluate client's needs by a process called Symptomatology. It is the study of symptoms, lifestyle habits, genetics and previous health experiences which can be characteristic of disease or nutritional deficiencies. I then provide individualized health plans and provide full support in between appointments. The health plan includes whole-food recipes, lifestyle recommendations, Ayurveda techniques and natural source supplements, all in effort to bring health back to a natural state of equilibrium.
I focus on creating and maintaining a strong digestive system, as this is the foundation of a healthy body. For example, a poorly functioning digestive system can be linked to eczema and mental health problems if not looked after. "All disease begins in the gut."
The word "Holistic" simply means that other factors beyond diet can impact your overall health and well-being such as stress, exposure to toxins, a lack/too much physical exercise or state of mind.
